The University of Botswana has welcomed four postgraduate students under the Research and Academic Mobility for Drug Discovery in Africa (RAMDDA) project, who arrived in Gaborone on 8 August 2026 to commence their MSc and PhD studies. The students are:
- Mr Mohammedamin Isa (PhD Degree Seeking - Organic Chemistry)
- Mr Abera Tadie (PhD Degree Seeking - Physical Chemistry)
- Mr Surafel Kidanu (MSc Degree Seeking - Organic Chemistry)
- Ms Sukuralahi Ibrahim (MSc Degree Seeking - Physical Chemistry)
Their arrival marks an important milestone in the implementation of the RAMDDA project, an EU-funded Intra-Africa Academic Mobility initiative coordinated by the University of Botswana. The project aims to strengthen postgraduate training, research capacity, academic mobility, and collaboration in drug discovery and related scientific areas across participating African universities. During their studies at UB, the students will undertake advanced coursework and research, working closely with academic supervisors and research teams in the Department of Chemistry. Their training will contribute to strengthening expertise in areas such as drug discovery, organic chemistry, physical and computational chemistry, and related disciplines. The Department of Chemistry and the RAMDDA coordination team warmly welcome the students to the University of Botswana and wish them a productive and successful academic journey.
