The Research and Academic Mobility for Drug Discovery in Africa (RAMDDA) project has successfully completed the selection of candidates under its recent MSc Degree-Seeking Scholarship Call, which attracted 97 applications from several African countries.
Following a rigorous evaluation process, the RAMDDA Research and Selection Committee (RSC) thoroughly assessed the applications and conducted interviews with shortlisted candidates. At the end of the process, five prospective MSc students were selected.
Of the five scholars, two will undertake their MSc studies at the Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST), two at the University of Ghana (UG), and one at the University of the Free State (UFS), South Africa.
This latest selection brings the total number of postgraduate students accepted under the RAMDDA project and network to 14, comprising 10 MSc and 4 PhD students.
The strong response to the scholarship call demonstrates the growing interest among young African scientists in advanced postgraduate training and research opportunities linked to drug discovery and related scientific fields.
Through its scholarship and mobility programme, RAMDDA aims to strengthen postgraduate education, research capacity, academic mobility and collaboration among African higher education institutions. The selected scholars will benefit from training within a regional network of partner universities and researchers, while contributing to the development of Africa’s next generation of scientists.
The selection of these five MSc scholars represents another important milestone in RAMDDA’s commitment to advancing research excellence, postgraduate training and collaborative drug discovery research across Africa.
